Mijn naam is Jan Breemer.
Ik ben een gepensioneerde elektronica technicus woonachtig in de Betuwe in NL.
Tijdens mijn (betaald) werkzaam leven heb ik naast elektronica ook wat
kennis opgedaan op de gebieden van medisch diagnostische röntgen
apparatuur, medisch gebruikte radio-nucleïden, optica, en machine
besturing.
In de hobby sfeer doe ik iets met huiskamer-hifi weergave (maar zoder de
onzin die in dat wereldje verkocht wordt), domotica, machinale
metaalbewerking, allerlei DHZ in en om huis, en ik doe iets met geluid
en licht bij een amateur toneelgezelschap en een een culturele
instelling.
Ik ben ook deelnemer bij de Arnhemse HackerSpace Hack42
waar ik me o.a. bezig hou met het afbouwen van een grote laser
snijmachine, een CNC machine voor vele doeleinden en het inrichten van
de metaalwerkplaats.
Ik wist al decennia van de Foucault Slinger maar om 1 of andere reden
had zich de gedachte bij mij vastgezet dat je daarvoor een zeer grote
hoogte nodig zou hebben, en viel het dus altijd buiten mijn bereik.
Totdat..... begin 2017 bij Hack42 de mogelijkheid in beeld kwam dat we
zouden verhuizen naar de koepelgevangenis in Arnhem. De hoogte daar is
zo'n 35 meter, dus toen ben ik in de materie gedoken en ontdekte dat het met
een veel kortere slinger ook gaat.
De rest is geschiedenis, en nee, we zijn niet naar die gevangenis gegaan.
My name is Jan Breemer.
I am a retired electronic technician living in NL, region Betuwe.
During my (payed) working life I gained also some knowledge in the
fields of medical Xray equipment, medically used radio nucleïds, optics
and machine control.
As hobby I do things in the fields of hifi sound reproduction for in the
home (but without the nonsense often sold in that field), domotics,
machined metalworking, all kinds of DIY in and around the house, and I
assist with sound and lighting for an amateur theater group and a
cultural institution .
I am also participant in the HackerSpace Hack42
in Arnhem, NL where I am involved with a.o. the construction of a large
laser cutter, a multi-purpose CNC machine and the setup of the metal
workshop.
I knew for decennia about the Foucalt Pendulum, but for some reason I
had the fixed idea that only a very long pendulim would work, and that
was beyond my reach. Until.... begin 2017 at Hack42 the possibility came
into view that we could move to the abandoned dome prison in Arnhem. I
was immediately thinking of a pendulum in that dome of 35 m height. From
then on I dived into the physics and found that it could be done with a
much shorter pendulum too.
The rest is history, and no, we did not move
into that prison.
